What to do with your spare or used Ang Baos?

This Chinese New Year 2021 is quite different from prior years due to the global pandemic where there are safety measures in place to curb the spread of covid-19.

Surely, there will still be celebrations and exchanges of Ang Baos (be it physical or digital Ang Baos), but meet ups may possibly be spread out across more days or reduced altogether.

So what do you do with spare or used Ang Baos that were given to you? (And what do you do with the spare time on your hands?)

One good way is to do crafts with them by recycling them and at the same time create fun bonding activities with your kids!

Here is a quick craft that you can explore!

Creating Fish 🐠🐠🐠 with Ang Baos!

Here is the list of items:

1) Old/Spare/Used Ang Baos

2) Pair of scissors ✂️

3) Black marker or pen 🖊

4) Staple

5) Ruler (optional)

Step 1: Fold the edge of the Ang Bao to the side of the Ang Bao to create a triangle.

Step 2: Cut across the Ang Bao

Step 3: With the cut edge facing you, draw a triangle similar to the one in the picture below.

Step 4: Cut the line where your black line is drawn.

Step 5: The Ang Bao should look like a triangle with a tail.

Step 6: Cut a straight line from the edge of the tail and DO NOT cut cross the ‘fish body’ as shown in picture. For the kids, it would be easier if you draw in black line for them to cut to.

Step 7: Lay one tail against the other on both sides of the fish and staple down across both side.

Step 8: The Ang Bao fish is ready!
